Windows 7 x64 RDP Issue

A client on mine bought 2 new Dell XPS 8100s running Windows 7 x64. Everything is great except they couldn’t connect to virtual machines running 2008 R2 or 7 with RDP.  After a few seconds the screen would freeze for a few minutes then work for few seconds only to freeze again.

Windows 7 DirectAccess

A feature of Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 that allows remote users to connect to the corporate network’s resources with out having to create a VPN connection.

This looks very interesting.

VM’s pause for no reason in vSphere…

Check your power settings… The system is likely going into Hibernation/Sleep.

Tends to only be a default setting on a desktop OS. (Windows XP, Vista, 7)

System Config Info from Command Line

Run the command “systeminfo” from a dos/CMD window. Outputs: Computer Name, OS info – including version, registration info, Windows product id, original install date, system uptime, make and model of the computer. It also shows processor, pagefile and ram useage, timezone, Windows hotfixes, and network card info.
