Back in January I was looking for some way I could help my community. I thought I should see what volunteering options there was in my neighbourhood. After looking at a couple of community organization’s website it was clear I should do my searching on GoVolunteer.ca.

There I found an abundance of volunteer positions in Vancouver and the surrounding cities. After reviewing a lot of posting I decided to investigate the Vancouver Fruit Tree Project.

The Project is a truly brilliant idea. Take extra fruit from trees in people’s yards and distribute it to community groups – like Women’s Shelters, Neighbourhood Houses, and Day Cares.

Food Security is something I’ve thought about for years, but I never saw a way I could make an impact.
Now, as a Member of the Board, I have a way to help improve food security in Vancouver.

We are currently struggling with a funding shortfall, we lost a major donor earlier this year, if you or your company would be interested in donating please contact [email protected]

    All help is greatly appreciated.
