Throwing the ball and frisbee with him.
Cuddling with him on the bed.
Going for runs, the 3 of us.
Rough housing with him in the living room until my wife got annoyed.
When Gus would come out of the bedroom at 1am and look at me saying “why aren’t you in bed already?”, then going back to bed.
The way Gus would put a toy up on the sofa then wait for one of us to throw it, again and again and again…
The way Gus would put a toy on the ground when I was at the table or in the kitchen then stare at it, then look at me, then stare at it, then look at me…
The jingle of Gus’s collar as he walked.
The way he would wiggle when he was happy to see us.
Coming home and seeing him excited to see us, even if he was in his kennel.
The way he would wait outside the bathroom for my wife.
When he would be a puppy towel.
When he would be my wife’s kitchen shadow.
Watching him launch himself off the sofa when he was little.
Having to fish him out from under the bed, before he got too big.
Cuddling with him on the sofa at lunch time.
His great big puppy kisses.
The way he would go into his kennel when it was time, even though he didn’t really like it.
How cute he looked and how happy he was too see us, when we came home to find the carpet torn back to the cement.
Watching him organize blankets or pillows into a bed…
Watching him lay under the clothes rack, like it was a fort.
Seeing the laundry hamper after he had gotten into it…
His shark puppy routine.
Watching him just trotting along beside me on a run or when we went roller blading.
His smile when he was panting.
How he always wanted to say hi to the birdies.
How even thought he was happy to see us, he still didn’t want to leave my in-law’s house when we went to pick him up.
The way he would hug my wife when she would pick him up, with one paw on each shoulder.
His crazy puppy routine.
The way he would still have Cool Whip on his nose and whiskers after he cleaned one of our bowls.
Watching him systematically destroy a toy or rawhide.
Watching him jump over the baby gate at my Mom’s, the same one that held back the full grown Golden Retriever.
Watching him pee on the floor, right beside his training pads when we were paper training him…
Watching him do his best blood hound impression and sniff everything on our walks.
The way he would stretch out on the floor, with his legs spread out like a frog.
Watching him chase ice cubes across the floor and batting at them like a cat.
Watching Gus run in the sand, one of his favourite things.
His Elvis impression, when his lip would get caught on one of his teeth.
He always knew which booths we were in when we went tanning, and would wait outside them for us.
Watching him walk the first few steps after we wrapped his foot in a wash cloth after he cut his paw when we were on a run.

Tears, tears tears……….
So touching. He was the sweetest, most precious little bundle of puppy joy!
From what he has taught you, your future will be filled with a new found warmth and love.
Since I was there when he entered the world…. I can tell you that he always knew how to make an entrance and he knew how to leave his paw print on your heart… It was hard to let him go to Clint and Devon but we were very happy in our placement for him… We could see that Gus had found his loving home in the arms of two very gentle, loving people…
